Day hikes can be easily arranged to nearby sites. A few hours in length these usually comprise a walk to one of many scenic mountain streams and waterfalls or a soak in the hot springs.

Day trips by boat and overnight stays can be arranged to many of the deserted beaches and hidden coves in the area. Activities consist of snorkeling, swimming, sunning, exploring, relaxing, and enjoying delicious outdoor gourmet food.

Fishing is the life support activity of all the towns in this area, a practice that has continued virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. Due to the sparse population of the region, the waters off the coast have a remarkably rich marine life. Day or night fishing trips as well as snorkeling can be arranged to explore the abundant fishing possibilities.

El Avila National Park is home to hundreds of bird species, including several rare varieties. With the aid of experienced guides, bird lovers can roam the vast tropical forest in search of these birds. Feeding stations and perches are interspersed along the trails designed for optimal views of these colorful and sometimes rare feathered beauties.
